Arsenal are eyeing up two Southampton players as Arsene Wenger looks to strengthen his Gunners squad this summer according to the Daily Mail.

Wenger has set his sights on Southampton’s tough tackling midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin who is seen by the North London club as an alternative to ineffective Frenchman Mikel Arteta.

Schneiderlin is into his sixth season at St Mary’s and has helped the club to promotions from League One and the Championship and has excelled in the Premier League and must surely be tempted by a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Arteta has not been his usually reliable self in the holding role in the centre of Arsenal’s midfield and could well be sacrificed by Wenger at the end of the season.

Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino may well see his successful side picked apart by prospective suitors with the likes of England international truo Jay Rodriguez, Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana sure to be interesting a number of fellow Premier League sides.

Arsenal are also chasing teenage full-back Callum Chambers.

Arsene Wenger apparently sees the 19 year old as a possible replacement for French veteran Bacary Sagna, who looks set to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer when his current contract comes to a close.

Chambers has impressed since breaking into the Saints first team set-up this season, making 16 appearances in all competitions, and could be the latest player to leave St Mary’s for Arsenal.

Wenger has previously brought in Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from the south-coast side and are ready to spent bid to land Chambers.
