28 year old Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has been linked with a possible move back to his former club FC Koln, a move that may perhaps prove all the more likely if the club make their expected move back to the German top tier.

Koln sit six points clear at the top of the German second division and given that he’s made just four Premier League starts this season there has to be a decent chance that Podolski may leave the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Though Podolski has struggled with injuries this term he has also been left on the bench when fully fit and at his age the Gunners forward can not really afford to be without regular first team football.

Podolski was unable to prevent Koln from suffering relegation from the Bundesliga in his last season at the club, despite scoring 18 goals in 29 appearances during the campaign, and is visiting his old stamping ground.

On the subject of a potential return to the RheinEnergieStadion side Podolski stated;

“You can never rule anything out in football.”

“The FC [Koln] is always my club and always will be.”

In his debut season Podolski scored 16 goals and provided 11 assists in all competitions but has proven far less pivotal this term.
