The highly rated Spain international has already confirmed that he will definitely be leaving the La Liga champions come the end of the campaign after 12 years at Camp Nou, with the shot stopper’s current deal with Barca now set to run out on June 30 2014.

As a result, the 32-year-old will be available to purchase on a lucrative Bosman-style free transfer this summer, meaning that Valdes has been entitled to talk to any foreign-based suitors who are interested in his services from Jan 1.

And while it is known that mega-rich Ligue 1 outfit Monaco have already offered the player a big-money contract to move to the South of France, with Valdes understood to have given a verbal agreement to the French giants that he will be joining them next season, it is also believed that the keeper can if he wants to break that deal, leaving the door open for City to land the star.
