The north London club have been keeping close tabs on the highly rated Germany international for over the past year now, with the north London club even failing with a big-money offer for the 20-year-old in the recent January transfer window.

However, Schalke chairman Clemens Tonnies has now admitted that the club’s star man will eventually be leaving the club.

“It pleases me when FC Bayern or foreign clubs are interested in our players”, he told German daily TZ.

“But that doesn’t mean that they will move there. It rather means that we are doing a great job and that we have a good youth department.

“I’ve already said it quite often: Players of Julian’s quality will of course eventually look elsewhere”, the Schalke chairman conceded.

“It is difficult for us to prevent that.

“What’s important to me is that the transfer benefits the club, too.

“Even though it is a shame to see players like [Manuel] Neuer or maybe sometime in the future Draxler go: One should not pocket the money and then moan about it afterwards.” then moan about it afterwards.”
