After completing a deal for Manchester United’s Vidic they’re are looking to sign Podolski.

Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has emerged as a shock target for Inter Milan as the Serie A club look to overhaul their squad, according to the Daily Star.

The Italians are already close to completing a deal for Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic – with the Serb having confirmed he will leave Old Trafford in the summer when his current contract expires.

Now Inter want to raid the Premier League once again as new owner Erick Thorir aims to introduce a new setup at the San Siro and Podolski is top of his list.

The 28-year-old arrived at the Emirates Stadium in the summer of 2012 in an £11m transfer from FC Koln and enjoyed s successful first season in north London, scoring 16 goals and providing 12 assists in 42 appearances in all competitions.

However, this term has been hampered by injury and that has meant Podolski has managed just 14 matches in 2013/14, although has still found the net six times.

The German is a proven star at the top, having become the youngest player in history to reach 100 caps for a nation and the attacker is still a key part of Germany’s international setup – with 111 appearances and 46 goals to date.

Podolski has finished in third place with the national team on two occasions at the World Cup, in 2006 and 2010 (winning Young Player of the Tournament in 2006), as well as runner-up at Euro 2008 and also winning the Bundesliga and German Cup with Bayern Munich that same year.

It’s therefore little wonder that Inter are interested in the player, as well as Gunners team-mate Bacary Sagna and United left-back Patrice Evra.
