Rumour: First Openly Gay Premier League and England Star to Come Out on Sunday

Twitter rumour suggests player will come out as gay.

Take this with a MASSIVE pinch of salt…

A ‘Freelance sports journalist and champagne enthusiast’ by name of Jimmy has claimed the first openly gay Premier League football will come out in an exclusive in The Sun on Sunday.

Jimmy claims the player in question featured for England on Wednesday.

Most likely Jimmy is a shameless attention seeker trying to gain some notoriety, but speculation is already rife on social media and Southampton’s teenage star Luke Shaw, who made his England debut in the 1-0 win over Denmark at Wembley, has denied he is the player in question:

There are currently no openly gay players in the Premier League but former Aston Villa, West Ham and Everton star Thomas Hitzlsperger recently came out, while England women’s captain Casey Stoney also revealed she was gay last month.

It’s worth noting that England’s women also played on Wednesday night but since there is already an openly gay player in the women’s Premier League, we should assume this tweet refers to the men’s game.

Don’t hold your breath though…
