Liverpool are interested in signing Lazio star Antionio Candreva, reports Football Direct News.
The 27-year-old Italian international has excelled for the Serie A giants this term, netting seven goals and registering five assists so far.
Candreva is predominantly deployed on the right wing, although he’s versatile enough to play centrally or from the left, just behind a striker.
His technical ability enables him to create space in the final third, before sliding teammates through on goal, while he also has an extremely powerful shot from distance in his armoury.
Liverpool are enjoying an excellent season in the Premier League, but lack strength in depth, especially in the attacking positions. While Raheem Sterling, Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge provide a formidable first choice attacking trio for manager Brendan Rodgers, the likes of Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto have not proved to be worthy backup options.
Candreva’s versatility could make him an exceptional squad option for Rodgers. Not only could he cover both wings, but he is comfortable playing in central midfield, too.
While Lazio would rather keep hold of Candreva, the potential lure of Champions League football could tempt the Italian to move to Anfield.
