The prolific Netherlands international only moved to Old Trafford in August 2012 in a hugely controversial £24m transfer from arch-rivals Arsenal.

However, after a brilliant and goal-laden debut campaign in the north west under previous Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson, Van Persie has reportedly grown disillusioned with life at United this season under Ferguson’s replacement, David Moyes, with the Premier League giants currently even struggling to qualify for next season’s Uefa Champions League.

And now it is believed that the Dutchman is ready to quit the club this summer and move to Serie A champions Juventus, with the Old Lady of Italian Football having come desperately close to signing Van Persie when he left the Gunners two years ago, before the player had a late change of heart and moved to United instead.

But the 30-year-old will have to forego a £10m loyalty bonus he would have earned had he seen out the final two years on his current deal with United.
