Old Trafford side want St Mary’s duo.
Man United will launch a £40m bid for Southampton duo Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw this summer according to the Daily Mail.
Old Trafford boss David Moyes is to conduct a major summer squad re-shuffle and with Champions League football almost certainly being off the table next term the Premier League side will be aware that some of their top targets will prove harder to secure.
However Moyes is hopeful he can lure England midfielder Lallana to the club as he seeks to strengthen his options in the centre of the park.
With Anderson likely to complete a permanent Man United exit after his loan spell at Fiorentina and Ryan Giggs set to hang up his boots there is certainly a real need to bring in midfield additions, preferably with an eye to a player who can make an impact in the final third.
Tom Cleverley has been woeful this term and neither Darren Fletcher or Michael Carrick offer much of a goal-scoring or assist-making threat, whilst summer signing Marouane Fellaini is yet to make an impact.
Moyes will see teenage left-back Shaw as a long term replacement for veteran Patrice Evra, who’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign.
An offer of £40m for the duo could prove very tough for Southampton to turn down.
