Arsene Wenger is preparing a summer bid to re-sign Man United striker Robin Van Persie following reports that the Dutchman isn’t happy with life at Old Trafford under boss David Moyes.

CaughtOffside understands that Arsenal manager Wenger is to launch a bid in the region of £18m for 30 year old marksman Van Persie who appears open to the prospect of a move back to the Emirates Stadium.

Van Persie is one of a number of senior Man United stars who have questioned the ability of David Moyes to lead the Premier League title holders and the very real prospect of failure to secure a Champions League berth will further fuel speculation of a possible summer departure.

In his first season at Man United Van Persie scored 30 goals in all competitions and was a key member of a side Sir Alex Ferguson led to a domestic title but 2013/14 has proven a real calamity and a move back to Arsenal has become a very real possibility.

Wenger could well do with strengthening an attack that overly relies on 18 goal striker Olivier Giroud and despite Van Persie’s age the Gunners boss is ready to offer his former charge a three year contract.

Arsene Wenger is also ready to offload Nicklas Bendtner and will make German Lukas Podolski available this summer as he makes room for Van Persie.

David Moyes may well be happy to cash-in on Van Persie as he looks to put his stamp on the squad he inherited from Sir Alex Ferguson and the Scot may well feel the need to freshen up a squad with more than it’s fair share of ageing talents.

Arsene Wenger will also usher Costa Rican international Joel Campbell into his first team squad after his sterling efforts during his season long loan spell at Olympiakos.
