Barcelona’s Cameroonian midfield ace Alex Song has admitted that he will move back to the Premier League one day.

The African 26-year-old moved to La Liga in 2012 for big money, following a six year stint at Arsenal. He’s never managed to win a regular starting place with the Catalan giants however, and has often been deployed as a central defender.

As a result, he has been linked with a move to Manchester United, or possibly back to the Emirates to rejoin Arsene Wenger.

“If I leave Barcelona it will be to return to the Premier League,” he told French TV channel BeIN Sport.

“I will return to England one day, that’s for sure,” he added.

Arsenal may well be the favourites for his signature though, after Song spoke about his wonderful relationship wit Arsene Wenger.

“He was like a father to me,” Song admitted.

“He spoke a lot with me when I arrived to Arsenal. I wanted to renew my contract with Arsenal but in that case I would have regretted not joining Barcelona. Barcelona are the best side in the world.”

If he were to return to North London, Song could compete with the likes of Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta for a starting spot as the Gunners’ midfield anchorman. While Arteta is technically good, Song offers more physicality, and while Flamini is feisty and a hard worker, Song is more creative.
