Manchester United are set to be disappointed in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels after he revealed that he is desperate to play for Barcelona instead, according to talkSPORT.

United had been hoping to bring the 25-year-old on board this summer as he searched for replacements to both Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand this summer as the veteran Serb heads for Inter Milan whilst contract negotiations have yet to be opened up with the ex-England international.
Hummels has been regarded as one of the best centre-backs in Europe, and the likes of Manchester City and Juventus have both been credited with an interest in his services, but it is now Barcelona who look to be favourites to win his signature.
Last week club stalwart Carles Puyol announced that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season, and Barca will now undertake a search to find a suitable replacement, something that is set to frustrate United after Hummels admitted it would be a dream for him to play for the Catalan club should he ever decide to leave Dortmund.
