Manchester United manager David Moyes is said to be lining up an amazing triple defensive swoop this summer in a bid to improve his squad ahead of next season, according to the Daily Mail.

Moyes is concerned about the lack of depth he will have in defence by the time the new season kicks off in August and has made Roma’s Mehdi Benatia and Paris Saint Germain’s Alex his top two priorities as Nemanja Vidic departs for Inter Milan and Rio Ferdinand nears the exit door.

The manager is also keen on bringing in Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic as he looks to put pressure on David De Gea to keep his place between the sticks at Old Trafford.

United are said to be looking for some experienced bodies to slot in at the back, hence why they have picked out Benatia and former Chelsea man Alex, as Moyes feels his side are giving away too many goals that are costing them points.

United have, however, ruled out making any sort of offer to Arsenal for out-of-favour Thomas Vermaelen.
