The Stamford Bridge outfit are currently sat at the top of the Premier League after thrashing Spurs 4-0 at the weekend, giving them 66 points from 29 games.

However, Cech believes that Manchester City, who are sat nine points behind Chelsea but with three games in hand, are still the fancied team in the top flight and have the necessary experience and impetus to take advantage of their room to catch up.

But as well as highlighting the danger posed by City, the Czech international also maintained that his side had more than enough about them to see off all challengers.

“We are going game by game, we keep saying that and that’s actually what we’ve been doing,” Cech said.

“We will try to stay on top of the league as long as we can. There’s plenty of football to be played but we are in the position where we would like to finish the season.

“City have enough experience and quality in their squad to win their games in hand, and it’s up to them to do that. We are in a good position, we go game by game and we try to do our best.”

Chelsea’s next test in the Premier League comes against Aston Villa this weekend.
