Manchester City will hope to defy the odds and beat Barcelona in their own backyard in the 2nd leg of their Champions league last 16 clash.
City face an uphill task to reach the next round after crashing 2-0 in the first leg.
Since then City have lifted their first trophy of the season, the Capital One Cup and crashed out of the FA Cup to Championship side Wigan while Barcelona have shown mixed form of their own, two of their three games since the clash at the Etihad.
City boss Manuel Pellegrini has received a boost ahead of the clash after Sergio Aguero proved his fitness playing 90 minutes in the 2-1 loss to Wigan.
Aguero inclusion will be a big lift for City while the return of Vincent Kompany, Pablo Zabaleta, Joe Hart and Fernandinho will add some steel and experience to Pellegrini’s line up.
Kompany will replace the suspended Martin Demichelis following his red card in the first leg with Javi Garcia or Joleon Lescott his partner at the back.
Despite the advantage being with Barcelona, Pellegrini is confident his side can avoid a second cup exit in four days.
“It’s difficult – of course it’s difficult,” Pellegrini told City’s official website.
“However, I have no doubt that we are going to go to Barcelona thinking that we can do it and thinking we can beat them in Camp Nou and we try to have our revenge there.
“It (Barcelona) is a very good team with great players (but) I won with Villarreal in Camp Nou, I draw also with Malaga.
“If we can score a goal early then Barcelona may be a little bit more nervous. We go with a lot of trust to try to do it and if we are having a good day I am absolutely sure that we can do it.”
Barcelona are unlikely to too many changes to their starting line-up despite their shock weekend defeat although Carlos Puyol or Marc Bartra could come into the centre of defence.
While City are the new kids on the block in European terms, Barcelona are the old hand. The club have reached at least the final four of the competition in their last six attempts, lifting the trophy in 2009 and 2011.
