Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has identified Zenit St Petersburg forward Hulk as the man he wants to lead his Blues attack according to Football Direct News.

The 27 year old had a difficult first season in the Russian Premier League but has greatly improved this term, however having seen boss Luciano Spalletti sacked the former FC Porto man may feel the time is right to consider his options.

Mourinho has seen the likes of Demba Ba, Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto’o struggle to retain a consistent level of form up front and the Portuguese manager is desperate to bring in a prolific marksman to boost his front-line.

Powerful Brazilian Hulk will cost up to £40m but for that price Mourinho would get a forward who has the physical stature to be a big hit in the English top tier and a player who can play out wide as well as in an orthodox striking role.

Hulk has netted nine goals and provided five assists in 15 appearances for Zenit this term and could be seen as a
more viable target than AS Monaco’s Radamel Falcao or Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa, who is apparently very happy at the Vicente Calderon.

Hulk may well jump at the chance of joining national team colleagues David Luiz, Ramires and Oscar at Stamford Bridge.
