The Portuguese has been offered a four-year deal to be head-coach of Zenit St Petersburg and is ready to say yes to the Russian champions, according to respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The 36-year-old was sacked by Spurs in December after 18 months in charge at White Hart Lane, despite leading the club to a record Premier League points haul last season.

AVB also failed to last long at Chelsea, and was sacked after nine months in the job after reportedly isolating a number or senior Blues stars.

But the protege of Jose Mourinho was hugely impressive in his first job at Porto, where he won an unprecedented treble and guided the club to an unbeaten season.

If he takes the job at Zenit, Villas-Boas will be reunited with former Porto star Hulk, who was influential in guiding the Primera Liga outfit to Europa League glory and a domestic double.

The head-coach will also be tasked with turning round a 4-2 deficit in the Champions League last-16 second leg against Borussia Dortmund.
