Man United striker Robin Van Persie is reportedly ready to quit Old Trafford having learnt of Barcelona’s interest in his services according to Football Direct News.

The 30 year old is said to be not be enjoying life under boss David Moyes and has struggled with form and fitness in his second season at Man United and the former Arsenal man is apparently very interested by the prospect of moving to the Nou Camp.

Barcelona boss Gerard Martino appears keen on bringing in fresh attacking options tough one wonders where that would leave the club’s current crop of striking talent, with the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Pedro offering very able support to star turn Lionel Messi.

Van Persie has managed just 16 Premier League starts thus far this season and with Man United unlikely to secure a Champions League berth for next season the Dutch international may look to force an exit this summer.

Barcelona currently sit in third place in La Liga, some four points behind arch rivals Real Madrid.

Robin Van Persie enjoyed an excellent first season at Man United, netting 30 goals in all competitions following his £24m move from Arsenal but the experienced forward may well feel that his side is moving backwards since Sir Alex Ferguson elected to retire from the game.
