La Liga giants Real Madrid are confident they will sign Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois this summer according to Spanish source AS.

The Bernabeu side had recently been linked with speculation relating to the Belgian completing a free transfer switch to the club when his current Blues deal comes to a close in 2016 but now it appears a more imminent move is back on.

Real Madrid believe they can lure Courtois away from Stamford Bridge with an offer of €30m (£25m) for the impressive 21 year old Belgian international.

Indeed that may well be a price that Jose Mourinho accepts for Courtois, given that the Chelsea manager is happy to stick with his current first choice custodian Petr Cech.

Courtois is into his third season on loan at Atletico Madrid and is now considered one of the best young players in European football.

Mourinho has been a sensible operator in the transfer market since his return to West London, electing to fund additions to his squad with the sales of those he feels he can afford to cash-in on, no doubt aware that UEFA’s FFP (Financial Fair Play) guidelines are really beginning to bite.

In January Mourinho more than covered the cost of signing Nemanja Matic, Mohamed Salah and Kurt Zouma with the £50m+ he garnered from the sales of Juan Mata, Kevin de Bruyne and Micheal Essien to Man United, Wolfsburg and AC Milan respectively.
