Path now clear to land the prolific Croat.

Premier League giants Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been handed a huge boost after it emerged that Bundesliga oufit Wolfsburg will not be re-signing Bayern Munich front man Mario Mandzukic at the end of the season, according to reports in the Daily Express.

All three top-flight clubs have been keeping close tabs on the highly rated Croatia international of late, especially following the announcement that Borussia Dortmund forward Robert Lewandowski would be moving to the Allianz Arena next season.

As a result, it is generally expected that Mandzukic will quit the Bundesliga champions this summer, with many experts having expected the Croat to return to his old club Wolfsburg.

However,  Wolfsburg general manager Klaus Allofs has now ruled out that possibility, saying: “A transfer for Mario Mandzukic is unlikely.

“We will be able to just do a few things and we won’t be able to pay every transfer fee. Of course, we have a good squad and we want to get better.

“It’s a fact we are trying to find a striker that is able to help us a lot up front, there is no doubt about it.”
