Check in to Chelsea vs Arsenal

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is desperate to land a prolific forward this summer and according to the Metro is now closing in on two in-form forwards that will cost the West London club a combined fee of £67m.

The Stamford Bridge side have been given a major boost in the chase for Zenit forward Hulk after the powerful marksman’s agent confirmed that his client was ready to move to the Premier League.

The 27 year old Brazilian has apparently grown unhappy with life in Russia and will push for an exit when the transfer window re-opens.

Hulk has actually had an excellent second campaign, after a poor first season in the Russian Premier League, scoring nine goals in 15 domestic league fixtures.

Zenit have slapped a £40m price-tag on the former FC Porto man, one that owner Roman Abramovich can clearly afford to cover.

Meanwhile Chelsea have made Spanish international Diego Costa their top transfer target.

Jose Mourinho is ready to make a £27m bid for the Atletico Madrid forward, a fee that may be well below the Vicente Calderon side’s valuation of their prized asset.

Costa has scored 21 goals in 26 La Liga fixtures this term and has formed an excellent understanding with veteran David Villa, form that has helped Diego Simeone’s side mount a genuine La Liga title challenge.

Chelsea have a good relationship with Atletico, borne out of the club’s willingness to loan keeper Thibaut Courtois to the Spanish club for three successive seasons, and this could well help in the pursuit of Costa.

Chelsea’s current striking options, Demba Ba, Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto’o have been far too inconsistent for Mourinho’s liking and the Portuguese manager knows he needs a solid goal-scorer to lead his attack next term.
