Chelsea are facing a touch challenge to land Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano this summer as Serie A duo Juventus and Napoli are both interested in landing his signature, according to Football Direct News.

The former Liverpool and West Ham star has recently been linked with a return to the Premier League with Chelsea said to be his most likely destination as they search for new midfielders.
However, the Stamford Bridge outfit’s path to the Argentinian may be blocked by some significant interest in Italy as he has been a long term target for Napoli boss Rafa Benitez, who worked with him at Liverpool, and is said to be prepared to offer him a chance to play in his favoured defensive midfield role after Barcelona have continued to play him at centre-back.
And it now appears that Juventus are also set to join the race as they look for potential replacements for both Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal, who have been tipped to leave the club at the end of the season.
Mascherano has picked up two La Liga titles and one Champions League trophy during his time in Spain, and his experience could see him become a solid acquisition for the Serie A leaders as they look to take their game to the next level in Europe next season.
