An early Tomas Rosicky goal was enough to help Arsenal to a narrow win over Tottenham which helps Arsene Wenger’s side to maintain their push for the Premier League title.
Though Tottenham had much the better second half the Gunners back-line held strong and showed real grit to defeat their local rivals to move into third spot above Man City.
The win sees Arsenal move to within four points of top of the table Chelsea, with a game in hand on the West London club who they face at Stamford Bridge next week.
The defeat all but ends Tim Sherwood’s hopes of securing a top four finish and could cost the newly appointed boss his job in the process.
