Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign Bayern Munich forward Mario Mandzukic according to The Sun.

The 27 year old Croatian is likely to see his first team chances limited next term with Robert Lewandowski set to move from Borussia Dortmund to the Allianz Arena in the summer.

The former Wolfsburg man has been a regular goal-scorer since moving to Bayern Munich 18 months ago but is seemingly seen as a player Pep Guardiola is keen to replace.

Mandzukic netted a healthy 21 goals in his first season at Bayern Munich, playing a pivotal role in their treble winning success, and has been even more prolific in 2013/14, scoring 17 goals in 17 Bundesliga starts.

Chelsea could well do with a striker of Mandzukic’s calibre leading their line as Jose Mourinho is sure to be ready to offload the likes of Demba Ba and Fernando Torres whilst veteran Samuel Eto’o will be out of contract with the Stamford Bridge side in the summer.

Mourinho has been heavily reliant on his creative midfielders to provide more than their fair share of goals and has been linked with a host of potential striking additions.
