Former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys claims Manchester United have agreed an £80m deal with PSG for striker Edinson Cavani.

Keys, who has worked for talkSPORT and Al Jezeera since resigning from Sky in 2011 after making derogatory remarks about lineswoman Sian Massey, made the claim on his cringeworthy personal blog.

“Edison Cavani is a done deal – if they can persuade him to sign. It’ll cost £80m to get him out of PSG.

“But will he want to join a team that might not even be playing Europa Lge [sic] football?,” mused the 58-year-old.

Cavani only joined PSG from Napoli last summer and has scored 18 goals in 29 appearances in Ligue 1 and the Champions League this season.

The Uruguay international has been overshadowed by PSG star Zlatan Ibrahimovic but Cavani is six years the Swede’s junior but it would be a strange move for the Parisiens to sell this summer, particularly as they are in no need of the cash.

Manchester United, meanwhile, have plenty of problems to address but their attack remains among the strongest in Europe, with Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez all on the books.

While Cavani would be a top signing for any side, it’s hard to see United blowing £80m on him when the defence and midfield are in such dyer need of reinforcements.

Frankly, it sounds like Keys is talking more rubbish.
