Jose Mourinho Questions Whether Chris Foy Should Referee Chelsea Again

Special One was sent off at Villa Park on the weekend.

Chelsea head coach Jose Mourinho has asked that the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL)consider not appointing referee Chris Foy to matches involving the west London club going forward, according to reports in the Guardian.

The official angered the  Portuguese on Saturday night after sending off two of his players as the Blues were surprisingly beaten 1-0 at Aston Villa, while Mourinho himself was also dismissed late on after encroaching on to the pitch.

“I know,” Mourinho said. “The players were speaking about it during the week. My philosophy is that I never care who the ref is, I don’t want to know. I always think that the referee is a good referee but during the week the players were speaking about the situation and I think from now on, the next time we have Mr Foy, I have to work my people in a different way.

“Maybe it is helpful that the PGMOL committee doesn’t send him to our matches. I don’t have the right to request [that]. I think they have to analyse the situation and see if every time he has Chelsea – or not every time – but many times he has Chelsea and problems are there, I think maybe it would be a good decision.”
