The striker will have a year remaining on his contract at the end of the season, but after having failed to become a regular starter under Manuel Pellegrini the club have intimated that they are ready to let him go this year for a cut priced fee rather than lose him next year for nothing.

However, City have also said that they will not do business for the striker with any clubs also in the Premier League, which rules out Arsenal who were said to be taking a keen interest in his situation at the Etihad.

Tottenham Hotspur had also been credited with an interest in his signature, and even made an enquiry for him before the January transfer window opened.

City are asking for around £15m for Dzeko, who bagged his first Premier League goal since January in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Hull, and the likes of Borussia Dortmund, the two Milan clubs and Valencia have all been keeping a close eye on his progress this term.
