The Blues have been repeatedly linked with a move for Falcao, who raised eyebrows when he joined the mega-rich Ligue 1 outfit from Atletico Madrid last summer.

Jose Mourinho is desperate to add a top class forward to his Blues squad this summer after watching Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba struggle to find consistency this season.

The Portuguese watched his side slump to a 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa on Saturday and he will know that if the Blues miss out on the title, it will be due in large part to their lack of goals.

But Falcao, who scored 9 goals in 17 appearances for Monaco before suffering a serious knee injury, says he wants to remain at the Principality club for ‘years’ and is targeting a return to fitness before this summer’s World Cup.

“I want to play for Monaco in the next years. My injury? It’s going well, the dream to play the World Cup is giving me strength,” the 28-year-old is quoted as saying by talkSPORT.
