Tottenham will reportedly look to solidify their back-line with a move for West Ham defender Winston Reid according to TuttoMercato.

The 25 year old New Zealand international initially struggled when he first arrived at Upton Park but over the past 18 months has matured into a very able defender.

White Hart Lane boss Tim Sherwood has at times been left flabbergasted by a defence that has conceded 38 goals in 30 Premier League fixtures and has leaked badly against the likes of Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea and indeed West Ham this term.

Reid is not a player Sam Allardyce would want to lose but a move to the North London club may interest the no-nonsense Hammers star.

There has been speculation linking Belgian Jan Vertonghen with a Tottenham exit and Younes Kaboul has looked shaky to say the least whilst Michael Dawson has at times been way off the pace.

Summer signing Vlad Chiriches did initially impress but has been off the boil in 2014.
