Arsenal are reportedly taking a keen interest in Chelsea attacker Andre Schurrle according to Football Direct News.

The 23 year old German international has had an up and down time of it in his debut season at Stamford Bridge and has started just nine of the club’s 30 Premier League fixtures thus far.

Chelsea have shown in recent years that they have no qualms about selling prominent players to Premier League rivals, with the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Juan Mata joining Liverpool and Man United respectively, so an offer from Arsenal could well be considered by Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho’s Blues squad is expansive to say the least and a chance to cash in on a bit-part player could be tough for the Portuguese boss to turn down.

Arsene Wenger could well do with strengthening their attack and the Arsenal boss was linked with interest in Schurrle prior to his move last summer from Bayer Leverkusen to West London.

Schurrle would offer some much needed support to overworked Frenchman Olivier Giroud and with both Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott suffering with injury concerns this term there is a very real need to invest in options in the final third.

Andre Schurrle has netted six Premier League goals this term and his lack of regular first team action could well harm his standing in Joachim Low’s national team set-up.
