Big-spending Premier League outfit Manchester City hope to beat city-rivals Manchester United to the prized signature of FC Barcelona right-back Dani Alves at the end of the season, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The brilliant Brazil international looks like definitely ending his glittering six-year career with the La Liga champions this summer after reportedly falling out with a number of his team-mates at Camp Nou in this campaign.

And as a result, a number of the Continent’s biggest clubs are all said to be lining up at present in an effort to try and persuade Alves to join them next season, including Premier League champions United, with new Red Devils head coach David Moyes said to himself be desperate to lure a new attacking right-sided full back to Old Trafford this summer.

However, in what will come as yet another blow to the under-pressure Scot following Sunday afternoon’s disappointing 3-0 loss to arch-rivals Liverpool in the Premier League at the Theatre of Dreams, it now appears as though City are set to steal the player right from under their noses.
