Serie A giants move ahead in pursuit for Sporting Lisbon star.
Italian giants Inter Milan have dealt a blow to both Liverpool and Manchester United as they are now in pole position to land Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho, according to talkSPORT.
The Sporting star had been high on United boss David Moyes’ list of priorities this summer as he looks to overhaul his squad in the wake of a disappointing first season.
United have previously enjoyed a close relationship with the Portuguese giants having already done deals with them to bring the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani to Old Trafford in recent years.
However, Carvalho, who has been widely tipped to be a key figure to Portugal at this summer’s World Cup, is also said to be wanted at Liverpool by manager Brendan Rodgers as he also looks to add some considerable bulk to his midfield in lieu of a renewed title challenge next season.
But they now both appear to be out of luck as Inter look to complete a deal for the 21-year-old before the transfer window officially opens in July.
Inter have scouted the player on numerous occasions already this season and are keen to snap him up. Carvalho has a €30m release clause, but the Portuguese side are understood to be willing to do business below that figure.
