Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United have both suffered a huge blow in their efforts to lure prolific AS Monaco frontman Radamel Falcao to the English top flight next season after his club confirmed they would not be allowing their star man to leave the South of France this summer, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The in-demand  Colombia international is currently out of action with a serious knee-ligament injury that the player picked by playing for his club at the start of the year.

However, while Falcao’s participation in this summer’s Fifa World Cup finals is still in some doubt as the striker recovers from his setback, the South American star will be back playing again by the following campaign.

And both the Premier League champions and the Uefa Europa League holders had both been desperate to land the 28-year-old this summer, although each heavyweight may need to start looking at alternative transfer targets after the player’s club confirmed that they had absolutely no intention of allowing their star man to leave.
