Aguero has been linked with a number of big money moves away from the Etihad this season, most recently being linked to Barcelona as Tata Martino looks to give his squad a facelift ahead of a renewed challenge for domestic and European honours next season.

However, Pellegrini has  brushed off the speculation by insisting that there is no way that he will let the Argentine international depart.

“[My response] is exactly the same as what I respond to all the other links during the whole year,” he said.

“You cannot talk every week about players that are coming here and the players going out.

“Aguero is a Manchester City player, he is very happy here and the club is very happy with him.”

The 25-year-old joined City from Spanish giants Atletico Madrid back in 2011 and has been in prolific form this season, bagging himself 26 despite suffering with a series of injuries.

Over the past month he has been tipped to join Barcelona in a deal worth £50m, but has so far remained quiet on the issue.
