The Premier League giants are set to land the powerful Portugal international before this summer’s Fifa World Cup gets under way in June after the player was given a guided tour of the club’s training ground at Carrington.

And now United’s under-pressure head coach David Moyes is keen to follow up Carvalho’s big-money signing by persuading Bayern’s highly rated Germany international to swap the Allianz Arena for Old Trafford next season.

The Scot has been keeping close eyes on the 24-year-old all season long, especially after it emerged that the player was in the middle of a contract dispute with the Bundesliga champions regarding the renewal of Kroos’s current deal in Bavaria which now has less than 18 months to run.

And despite the German seemingly mocking United’s chances of winning the Uefa Champions League this season in the aftermath of Friday’s draw, Moyes is still keen to sign the player this summer.
