Everton are reportedly keen on signing Man United striker Danny Welbeck this summer according to Football Direct News.

Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is mindful that loaned in trio Romelu Lukaku, Lacina Traore and Gerard Deulofeu are to leave Goodison Park at the end of the current campaign and one can see why the Spaniard would be looking at signing a fresh striking option but how likely are they to sign England man Welbeck?

The 23 year old has successfully pushed himself ahead of Javier Hernandez in the Man United pecking order and has displayed some excellent form when called upon this term, scoring nine goals despite making just 12 Premier League starts.

Welbeck has also impressed in during England national team action, scoring eight goals in 21 appearances and is sure to be part of Roy Hodgson’s 2014 World Cup squad.

Moyes appears to value Welbeck highly and talk of Robin Van Persie perhaps being sold in the summer would only serve to further improve the chances of the locally born forward making a name for himself at Man United.

Everton certainly need to think about signing a new striker though would be better off scouting other talents as Welbeck would appear to be out of the question this summer.
