Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is credited with a keen interest in Southampton duo Luke Shaw and Calum Chambers with the White Hart Lane side keen on freshening up their defence according to the London Evening Standard.

Though Spurs overcame a two goal deficit to defeat the south-coast side this doesn’t appear to have dampened the North London clubs’s interest in the two teenage full-backs.

Interest in England international Shaw has reached fever pitch of late and the £30m price-tag placed on the 18 year old doesn’t appear to have scared off potential suitors.

The left-back role is seen by many as a ‘problem-area’ for Tim Sherwood’s side with Danny Rose failing to impress in the role and Jan Vertonghen arguably far more accomplished at centre-back.

The right-back spot is ably filled by Kyle Walker but the mistakes made by back-up option Kyle Naughton, which led to both Southampton goals on Sunday, have left Tottenham targeting Chambers as a possible addition.

Chambers has a more manageable valuation of £10m and is yet another successful graduate of the St Mary’s sides academy system.

Clearly Tottenham know all about the quality youngsters Southampton can produce, having reaped the rewards when they brought in Gareth Bale, and as such Levy may see similar success stories to be found in moves for Shaw and Chambers this summer.
