However, the Malian international has hinted that he may be set for an early move from the club despite only being there for two months.

The veteran star rejected the chance to head to Merseyside in the new year in favour of making a return to La Liga, but his recent comments could leave him open for a second chance at linking up with Brendan Rodgers’ men.

“We need to play well because the best way of staying or leaving to go to a bigger club is doing it on the pitch,” Keita told Mundo Deportivo.

Whether his comments were implying his own future or as a motivation to some of the younger starlets at Valencia, like Juan Bernat, who are being linked with top European clubs remains to be seen.

Keita has so far made only six appearances for Los Che as he attempts to help the club reach a European spot before the end of the season. Valencia are currently sat in eighth place in the La Liga table, seven points of a European spot.
