The Mexican goal poacher has fallen out of favour under new manager David Moyes this season, and looks increasingly likely to make an exit from the club at the end of the season.

A number of top clubs from across Europe have taken more than a passing interest in landing his signature, with Inter Milan and Valencia believed to be the frontrunners.

Last week it emerged that he was on the verge of linking up with Inter, as new owner Erick Thohir looks to overhaul his squad ahead of a renewed challenge for the scudetto next term, but it has appeared now that the Spaniards are looking to block the move with a last ditch offer of their own.

Hernandez has hit 50 goals in his three seasons with United and they have seen the striker establish himself as a danger man across Europe, and it is expected that he would cost around the £20m mark.
