The 23-year-old has found himself in high demand this season following his performances against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League and reports are suggesting that he is keen to secure a move away from the Estadio da Luz at the end of the season.

Brendan Rodgers is keen on bringing the player back to the Premier League as he is planning on adding more strength in depth to his squad next season in order to build on his strong season this time around.

Benfica boss Jorge Jesus revealed Liverpool’s interest in the Spaniard just last week but Rodrigo could be on his way to Spain as part of a third party ownership agreement.

Benfica sold the ecomonic rights of Rodrigo to investment group Meriton Capital Limited recently and Valencia and Atletico Madrid are both rumoured to be circling.

Reports close to the club have suggested that the clubs have already made enquiries for him meaning Brendan Rodgers had better act fast before losing out on one of his key targets.
