Chelsea are set to restructure their scouting network by searching for more young English talent and have been linked with a surprise move for Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Karl Darlow, according to the Daily Mirror.

Jose Mourinho has ordered his scouting network to start searching for more English talent to grow the side in future years, and the Forest ‘keeper has found himself at the top of the Special One’s wish list.

However, Darlow’s breakthrough performances have also caught the eyes of Tottenham and Liverpool, but Chelsea are waiting in the wings to pounce first as soon as Forest’s fate is decided at the end of the season.

Darlow would be offered the chance to understudy Petr Cech, with Thibaut Courtois – now in his third season on loan at Atletico Madrid – set to continue his exile from the club.

That would mean that Darlow would be given the chance to play for one of the top club’s in the country, albeit from the bench.

Chelsea are said to be looking to pepper their squad with a number of young, exciting English players over the coming years.
