The Brazilian international has lifted 16 titles during his sic-year spell with the Catalonian giants, but now faces an uncertain future as his deal at the club is set to expire in 2015.

It has been reported that Barcelona may be willing to cash in on his services this summer, rather than risk losing him for nothing in 12 months’ time.

Both Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain have been linked with making a £15m move for the 30-year-old, but Alves admitted that he is not thinking beyond the end of the current season as he is hoping to help see off a challenge from the two powers in Madrid to snap up another league title.

“We’ve been talking about my future at the club since the year I arrived,” he said.

“I live in the moment, I take every year as it comes.

“For me, it’s a compliment that some big teams are interested in me, that means I’m doing my job. But the truth is that I am here, I see my job as very intense every year.

“I think for a story to work, both parties must agree, a bit like in a relationship. Otherwise, it separates. At present, I know that both parties are satisfied.”
