The new Inter owner Erick Thohir is said to be determined to rebuild the ailing club come the end of the campaign, with the wealthy Indonesian businessman set to rebuild the entire first-team squad at San Siro.

And top of Thohir’s wish list come the opening of the summer transfer window is understood to be the purchase of a new striker to aid the club’s push for the Serie A title next season, with the Blues’ Spain international Inter’s number one target.

So much so that Thohir is set to fly to London this week in order to open negotiations with the Uefa Europa League holders over the capture of Torres, who Chelsea bought from arch-rivals Liverpool in January 2011 for a club-record fee of £50m.
