Liverpool are said to be preparing a shock move for Chelsea attacker Andre Schurrle according to Football Direct News.

Brendan Rodgers is said to be keen on bringing in further attacking options, especially with an eye to those who can fill wide roles, and the Anfield boss is unlikely to pursue Victor Moses who hasn’t impressed during his loan spell at the Merseyside club.

Instead the Northern Irishman now wants German international Schurrle, who this source claims could leave Stamford Bridge for the right price.

Jose Mourinho’s side forked out £18m to bring in the 23 year old from Bayer Leverkusen last June and it will take a similar fee for Liverpool to stand any chance of securing the youngster.

After initially struggling for form, and indeed regular first team action, Schurrle has found his feet of late scoring a hat-trick away at Fulham as well as netting during the club’s 6-0 rout of Arsenal last month.

Should Schurrle not feel he is a prominent part of Mourinho’s plans then a move to Liverpool may tempt the rangy forward, especially if they go on to clinch a Premier League title.

For his part Rodgers will be keen to bring in an effective supporting striker to help shoulder the goal-scoring burden currently weighing heavy on in-form pair Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.
