Arsenal are reportedly set to clinch a deal to sign Juventus forward Mirko Vucinic with Football Direct News claiming the North London side are ‘poised’ to bring in the Serie A star.

Arsene Wenger certainly needs to address the lack of able support helping Olivier Giroud up front, not least as both Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott have missed big chunks of the campaign with injuries, and a move for the experienced 30 year old Montenegro international may be a sensible one to attempt.

The former AS Roma man has stared just four Serie A fixtures this term, despite finishing the previous season as the club’s joint top scorer in domestic league action, and the summer arrivals of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente have effectively ended his career at the Turin club.

It will take a reported £8m fee to land Vucinic, which seems a fair price in today’s transfer market and one the Gunners are more than capable of paying.

Borussia Dortmund are also keen on Vucinic but the powerful forward is said to favour a move to the English top tier.
