Ilkay Gundogan (Borussia Dortmund)
Another quality central midfield option, albeit one that has been out all season with a back injury, and perhaps a more likely summer signing for Man United.
A tad more pedestrian than Kroos the Borussia Dortmund man is a more stable performer who could perhaps be seen as a combination of two players in one.
The 23 year old has a good passing range and has the strength to hold off a tackle though is perhaps not so effective as Kroos in opposition territory.
With Robert Lewandowski set to join Bayern Munich and Jurgen Klopp’s side a country mile behind their domestic rivals there is every chance Gundogan would jump at a move to Man United this summer but he must first prove his fitness and that may be the major obstacle.
