The 28-year-old has established himself as one of Europe’s most in form strikers, bagging himself an amazing 50 goals in two seasons whilst at Young Boys in Switzerland before taking his goalscoring exploits to Russia where he top-scored in the 2011/12 season with 28 goals from 42 outings. He already has 13 league strikes in 15 appearances this term.

A number of clubs across Europe were said to be on his trail, including Newcastle United and Everton, but his agent, Malik Arutyunov, hinted that the Ivorian hit man could be on his way to London instead.

“[The interest of] Galatasaray about Seydou Doumbia? I do not know if it is genuine interest. I know that he is followed by Napoli, Tottenham, Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea but I cannot say any more,” he said.

Chelsea have been desperate for fresh attacking options next season after Jose Mourinho heavily criticised his players for their failings, while Tottenham have seen £26m striker Roberto Soldado struggle for form.
