The highly rated young Belgium international has been at Stamford Bridge now since the summer of 2011 when Courtois first joined the west London club from Belgium outfit Genk on a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

However, incredibly the shot stopper has still to even make a single appearance for the Blues in the intervening period, with Courtois instead having been shipped out on loan to La Liga high-flyers Atletico Madrid in every season since.

But with the keeper’s current deal in west London now set to run out in June 2016, a definitive decision about the player’s long-term future is now expected to be made next week, with the rumours suggesting that Courtois will in fact extend his contract at Chelsea by three more years.

“Next week I will announce my decision,” said Courtois.

“I am not going to say if I will stay or not.
