The Merseyside giants have been keeping close tabs on the Ukraine international for some time now, with Reds head coach Brendan Rodgers even coming close to landing the 24-year-old during the recent January transfer window.
However, despite weeks on face-to-face negotiations between the two clubs, in the end Dnipro raised their asking price right at the very end of discussions and so no deal could be agreed.
And in recent weeks it had appeared as though the player would be heading to rivals Tottenham Hotspur instead next season, although following a cryptic tweet from Konoplyanka’s representative on Thursday, that may no longer now be the case.
James Lippett, the Ukraine star’s representative, tweeted: “En route to Liverpool”, which will bring a smile to fans of the club.
Konoplyanka, who has been capped on 36 occasions by his country in a four-year international career to date, has managed to register an impressive 11 goals and six assists in total in his 32 matches in all competitions for both club and country.
