Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to conduct another Bernabeu raid having identified Real Madrid attackers Karim Benzema and Angel di Maria as potential summer transfer targets.

CaughtOffside understands that Wenger is willing to offer up to £70m for the duo who could well be made available by the Spanish giants as Carlo Ancelotti plans an attacking overhaul of his own.

Ancelotti has been linked with an interest in a number of strikers which have left many speculating that French international Benzema, though a regular this season, may be replaced and Wenger is keen to land the long term Gunners target.

The 26 year old Benzema has scored 25 goals in all competitions this term but has also suffered a fair amount of abuse at the hands of a portion of the Bernabeu faithful and should Real Madrid fail to secure either a La Liga or Champions League triumph then there is a growing chance he will be sacrificed to make way for a new star signing.

Real Madrid may well look to retain the services of youngsters Alvaro Morata and Jese Rodriguez as long term options whilst the likes of Luis Suarez and Sergio Aguero have been actively pursued with the La Liga side confident of being able to land either the Liverpool or Man City ace.

Wenger is also looking to lure Angel di Maria to the Emirates Stadium having tracked the 26 year old for some time and may feel his chances of pulling off such a deal will have increased given that Gareth Bale’s arrival has certainly led to the former Benfica man having a less pivotal role at Real Madrid.

Tellingly Di Maria has only managed four full 90 minute run-outs since early November as Ancelotti looks to offer more playing time to new arrivals like Isco.

Di Maria has also been the subject of some criticism from Real Madrid fans this term, which resulted in the wide-man responding with an obscene gesture aimed at his own supporters earlier this season.

Arsene Wenger is ready to listen to offers for experienced German international Lukas Podolski, who has struggled in his second season in the English top tier.

The 28 year old hasn’t offered a great deal of support for overworked front-man Olivier Giroud and his return of just four goals in 15 Premier League appearances has left Wenger ready to offload the former Koln man.

Dane bit-part player Nicklas Bendtner will not be offered a new contract when his current deal comes to a close and there is also a possibility that Wenger will consider selling Giroud if he can indeed lure Benzema to take his place leading the Arsenal attack.

Wenger also expects to be handed a large transfer war-chest to invest in his squad though the level of funding could take a real dip if he fails to secure a Champions League berth for next term.
